Voting percentage in urban areas increased in first and second phase

Desired increase has been witnessed in polling percentage in 19 Parliamentary constituencies under the first and second phases of Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh compared to Lok Sabha elections-2009. Polling percentage has increased in urban areas in 17 districts in the first phase and 19 districts in the second phase compared to Lok Sabha elections-2009.

In the first phase, polling percentage in Satna urban area in 2009 Lok Sabha election was 51.14 which increased in 2014 to 57.26 percent. Voting percentage in Rewa in 2009 was 48.45 which increased to 54.22, Sidhi from 42.89 to 57.62, Anuppur 46.06 to 60.08, Jabalpur East from 38.52 to 54.97, Jabalpur North from 44.82 to 61.49, Jabalpur Cantt. from 46.84 to 58.37, Jabalpur West from 39.74 to 56.62, Mandla from 56.54 to 66.04, Balaghat from 58.27 to 61.81, Seoni from 45.00 to 65.13, Chhindwara from 69.21 to 77.46, Narsinghpur from 58.24 to 66.61 and polling percentage in Hoshangabad increase from 46.68 to 63.76 percent.

Second phase

Polling percentage in urban areas of 10 Lok Sabha constituents where polling was held on April 17 also increase compared to 2009 Lok Sabha elections. It increased in Morena from 46.66 to 47.26, Bhind from 33.4 to 45.45, Gwalior from 37.1 to 53.1, Gwalior East from 37.84 to 51.43, Gwalior South from 41.5 to 54.32, Guna from 52.98 to 61.47, Ashok Nagar from 58.42 to 63.76, Sagar from 40.83 to 52.12, Tikamgarh from 47.5 to 54.68, Chhatarpur from 37.86 to 54.14, Damoh from 47.5 to 57.22, Panna from 44.01 to 53.81, Bhopal North from 44.00 to 56.33, Bhopal South-West from 47.31 to 56.98, Bhopal Madhya from 45.19 to 53.48, Govindpura from 42.7 to 59.00, Sehore from 46.26 to 66.69 and polling percentage in Rajgarh urban areas increased from 53.89 to 67.17 percent. Thus, it was observed that inclination to exercise franchise in people has increased in urban areas and they cast their votes in large number.
