Election expenses limit has been fixed for Mayor and Chairman of urban bodies for ensuing elections to urban bodies in the state. Election expenses limit has been prescribed as per category of urban body and census for year 2011.
Secretary Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission Shri G.P. Shrivastava informed that candidates for Mayor can spend maximum Rs. 35 lakh in the cities with over 10 lakh population. In the cities with less than 10 lakh population, this limit will be Rs. 15 lakh.
Similarly, limit of elections expenses of candidates for Chairman of Nagar Palika has been fixed as Rs. 10 lakh in cities with over one lakh population Rs. 6 lakh in cities with 50 thousand to one lakh population and Rs. 4 lakh in cities with less than 50 thousand population. Rs. 3 lakh has been fixed as maximum limit of election expenses of candidates for Chairperson of Nagar Parishad.
