Deposit of arms by licence holders on

Madhya Pradesh.

Over 23 thousand non-bailable warrants served, over 2.5 lakh licensed weapons deposited 

Large-scale security arrangements have been made to ensure free and fair Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh. To prevent misuse of weapons, illegal arms are being recovered and licensed weapons got deposited. So far, 2 lakh 52 thousand 432 licensed weapons have been deposited. In the series, 1161 licensed weapons have been seized and 3033 arms licenses cancelled. So far, 23 thousand 98 non-bailable warrants have been issued of which 538 were issued in last 24 hours. Similarly, police has seized 1761 illegal weapons.

Action has been taken under various sections of CrPC against one lakh 18 thousand 918 persons so far and one lakh 9 thousand 701 persons have been bound over. Action was taken against 1167 persons for violating this provision. In police action, explosives of 4 types have been seized. Besides, 14 different kinds of bombs and 456 live cartridges have also been seized.

As many as 385 check posts have been set up in view of security in Vidhan Sabha constituencies. In all, 3399 majra-tolas have been identified under vulnerable mapping. Similarly, 9 thousand 340 people who can harass voters have also been identified. Action has been taken against 7584 such persons.

Flying squads/SST

Flying squads and SST constituted to ensure free and fair elections have intensified their activities during last 24 hours. Flying squads have seized a jeep of AAP being used without permission and electioneering material in Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency costing about Rs. 3 lakh 500. At Suwasara in Mandsaur district, 10.1 litre illicit liquor was seized. Similarly, flying squads seized Rs. 3 lakh 2 thousand 180 during last 24 hours. So far, flying squads have seized Rs. 3 crore 7 lakh one thousand 80 in cash and material and registered 2 FIRs. Action has been taken in complaints violation of model code of conduct. Static Surveillance Teams have seized Rs. 21 lakh 340 and registered 2 FIRs. Rs. 30 lakh has been seized from Shri Vimal Chand Jain in Gwalior. Income Tax Department is ensuring action in this case.

Illicit liquor

The Excise Department conducted 309 raids during the last 24 hours and seized 109 litre country-made liquor, 51 litre IML and 67 liter beer. It registered 132 persons in connection of cases of illicit country liquor, 20 for IMDL and 8 cases pertaining to seizure of illicit beer.
